Mum's birthday

Yesterday was mum's birthday, and possibly the last of the 'firsts' as we come up to the first anniversary of her death. I was thinking about this quite a bit yesterday and pondering the question "when someone is dead is it still a birthday?" My take on this is that she lives on in all of us in some way and until we no longer exist it will always be mum's birthday. Bit difficult to celebrate with her now, but it will be a day for memories, laughs and maybe a quiet tear. Interestingly when talking with Lucy earlier in the week the first thing she thought of in relation to the number 10 was that "it is nana's birthday".
I have just walked around our track and seen our magnolia (poor spindly thing!) in spectacular flower - and my first thought was mum would love this! The second thought was that I really need a camera! (ma-in-law took a photo so hope it will appear on her blog (Ariadnes thread)).
Any camera recommendations gratefully received.

Yes, i was very conscious of the day - Alex climbed into bed yesterday and we all wished Nana a happy birthday - was a nice way to start the day.

Our Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX50 got a nod of approval from Sam when he saw it when we visited him in the Starship. And he should know :-)

Yes the magnolia pic is on my blog. I'm sure Edith would have loved to see the tree blooming so beautifully. As for cameras - I know I will be looking for more megapixels & a decent optical zoom next time.

So weird - on the 10th my facebook status said something along the lines of 'Is a birthday always a birthday'. Went on to have a horrendous day - but was comforted (in a bizarre way) by knowing that all my brothers & sisters were all feeling it as well. But man - I could have done with a hug.

Re cameras. Once you have an idea of some of the models you want go to amazon.co.uk and read the customer reviews on them. Real reviews by real people - very helpful when choosing.
